the type r logo could be taken from the one on the cars, and the format of the club could be off the site

Not trying to piss on the fireworks here, as it is a fantastic idea, so here is the but.

Copyright laws will cover the design of the R or the Honda H, so we need to be careful on what design is used, wouldn't want this to get into some deep hot water.

If you like I can contact my mates wife who works for Honda Sales HQ in Langley, Slough. to see if she can get any info on what needs to be covered. Let me know.

so if the copyright laws apply then all the atr.org stickers we have in are cars are wrong cos they all have the R in them ?

if you would like to check it out then fine , but i don't really see a problem , im sure we could work around it somehow ?

keep the ideas coming ....

how does that work with other clubs, i.e club vauxhall use the vauxhall badge as there logo on all merchandise as my misses is a member of it and I have bought her polo tops and baseball cap, I think we will be alrite to use the red H and we would be advertising Honda :agree:

I can write to Honda and request permission to use it, I don't see there being an issue to be honest. :agree:

I doubt they'd stop us unless we are profiting heavily, at the end of the day we're promoting their brand for free.

They won't see it as free promotion, they'll see it as unofficial merchandise ... which is classed as copyright theft :(

We don't have to have a H on at all , what about the ATR.ORG.UK with the outline on the car on the front ( like i have seen someone desing in the graphics forum )of the shirts with just WWW.ATR.ORG.UK in writing on the back of the collar , would this cause a problem ?

I've sent an email to Honda press office explaining who we are, what we do and what we'd like to produce. They should come back with a positive reply, after all we aren't a business. :agree:

I'd be surprised if you hear back. Honda UK can't make decisions like that, it'll be Honda's head office, and they won't be interested.

I wrote to Peugeot's legal team for years to use their lion log and never even got an acknowledgement :(

I've spoken to the Honda legal department.

The best way to approach this is get the revamped and working website online so we have our 'web presence' viewable and then have a conversation, perhaps even a sit down with Honda UK legal about the way forward with official club merchandise carrying the Honda trademarks.

This could lead to becoming and official Honda club/representative, working to the highest quality in presentation and service. 8)

I explained we were none profit and they suggested we could even get their merchandisers to create our wares at cost, all very cool.

I'll be working like mad to get the site online ASAP and the letter will go off to Honda shortly after! :agree:
