The rule is members shouldn't comment on the price of items in a for sale thread.

However this seems to be ignored especially when a member posts up a premium price on a less then premium item.

The question is how do we get around this?

Prices are required on every item posted but how do we, and more to the point should we govern the prices on here?

I dont think its wrong to suggest to someone that threre price is to high at the end of the day were all a friendly lot on here and people may be unaware of the average rate things go for

If I had something up forsale and people thought it was to high and told me I would be happy as it would fall inline to the correct price and have more of a chance of selling

How about a 'how much is it worth' post/sticky ?

For example if i wanted to sell my alloys (and i had little idea of the market) i could post all the info, including pics for condition etc.

Then members could advise to the approx value.

Let me vet the thread before its posted :!:

This is my fault Ed, but I absolutely hate it, hate it with a capital H when things are priced so highly, its taking the p!ss just as much as its offensive.

i agree with you paul, but it's all to do with supply and demand and if someone needs it bad enough i suppose they'll pay it!!! what they need to know is how much is it in relative terms worth, and this is where we need to help!!!

in another thread a new member is looking for a gasket asap and i have one, albeit is needed but not yet...... would it be wrong to make a few quid on it :dunno: most people would think no but IMHO yes and tbh i'll just take the money that i outlaid for it but not everyone thinks like this

supply and demand is an excellent principle, if for instance i had three frnt engine mounts, which i should have next week, and noboby can get them, then they will be very expensive as people want them. However a seriously inflated price on an old exhaust nobody wants wont matter as it will remain unsold.

Haven't we had this discussion before? :dunno:

Overpriced items don't sell, so basic economic sense prevails, surely no further control is either required or possible!

supply and demand is all well and good but to charge folks over the odds for second hand parts is a joke IMO
