When browsing other forums they usually have a newbie section.

Would it be possible to incorporate this into the new forum design ?
In this sub section there could be a number of stickies, mainly the ATR buyers guide and a gentle reminder
of how useful the search function is to finding information.

There could also be a requirement for new members to make a 1st post in the newbie section before being allowed to post elsewhere. Posts in these sections are usually a hello to the forum, hopefully established members read the posts and welcome the new member in. This way the isn't any ill feeling when a new member joins up and is instantly told to 'search'.

This would hopefully eliminate new members making posts asking about various problems and what to look for when buying, without 1st reading the stickies. This in the past has been know to irritate certain members :p .

On another forum that i use regulary you have to have a post count of at least 5 in the newbie section before you can use the whole forum, I suppose to eliminate spammers.

Good set-up imo :agree:

I have used forums where you need at least 50 posts before being allowed to post threads in the for sale section. I suppose its to help try and stop people being ripping off, however if someone has the intention of obtaining money by deception it wont stop them.

There's a small sticky in general chat (a mere 70 pages) for newbie intro's... what's wrong with that?
