My oil thread was locked as it has been 'done to death'.

Why is this the only forum I've ever come across where this happens regually?

I asked a specific question about the oilman's oil filters and about the slik 50, not something I could see had been asked elsewhere. Generally speaking is it not just as easy to ignore a thread if you don't want to talk about it?

Not a moan really, just odd. Things change, people find new fad products etc - a bit of chat doesn't hurt does it?

Also the search facility on here is fairly poor in my experiance, for example searching for 'slik' reveals:

Search

How am I to tell it has been discussed before?

I'm just staggered at how many threads have the word 'silk' in them, I knew this forum was full of dodgy gits but that's just ridiculous!

Garth -because it's Friday, re-instate the topic.

Or you could have posted a constructive answer as to why you (if it was indeed you) felt the need to do it?

Things on forums do get repeated alot. I'm a mod on another forum and I often end up repeating myself, sometimes to newbies sometimes to long standing members BUT I choose to answer them because I can see how old posts are hard to find sometimes. Threads fill up with useless rubbish (and on here gay talk!), so people will ask the same questions as the answers are hard to find.

I will suggest that perhaps some more specific forum titles are created, and that if possible the search facility is refined.

Headings like Engine/Gearbox discussion, Wheels/tyres + suspension, styling + lighting, ice + security and so on. Would make life alot simpler to find things.

This is a very useful informative site and I know no-one asked for my input but they are my thoughts.

Well there you go, it's spelt slick not slik. Schoolboy error, but proves my point to some extent that things get re discussed because idiots like myself can't spell what they are searching for!!

i find search in titles is your best bet :agree: it is a PITA when people don't spell the title of the threads correctly, or don't suitably title it

Oh well, who care's it's the weekend!!

LL, if you don't wish to respond please delete and bin this thread as it was just something I wanted to get off my chest. Would be good if you'd consider my other suggestions.

fwiw I have decided that Honda say 10w40 semi, and they know a thing or two about engines so that is what it will continue to get. This isn't something I intend to discuss further as it's obviously been done enough :evil4:

It's been serviced by honda with their 10w40 since birth and uses next to no oil so I see no point in buying something flash that may even lead to me using more oil.
