Saw this as a main sticky on TRO, well written and needed badly here.

Default View on Text Speak
Just to clarify that text speak will NOT be tolerated on this forum. It reflects the standard of the members that we don't tolerate it and makes the forum a far easier place to find information, and far less stressful in reading posts.

Internet abbreviations are fine such as IMO, IIRC, FFS and so on, but things such as:

wud
luk
u
gud
m8
kewl (it's the same number of letters FFS!)
/me hugs hes

will not be tolerated.

There will be a warning system, if ignored then any post that you make written in text speak will be deleted with no explanation, no further warnings and no point of deliberation.

Hopefully this way we can keep the forum the way it is and not have it fall into the state of many other forums.

Update: Warnings

We appreciate that new users may be unfamiliar with the forum rules, so the following will be strictly applied:

First offence = warning.
Second offence = message deleted and an infraction.

We'll allow up to 3 deleted messages, after that you'll be banned for a week. When you return, if you still don't learn, you'll be banned for 14 days.

If you then still persist it's a permanent ban.

Its annoying, Its not the end of the world though. I sometimes do it out of habit.


Think a ban is a little harsh. Having nobody take you seriously due to using afore mentioned grammar is punishment enough :evil4:

I don't have the time to police every single post and then start dishing out warnings. :!:

Deleting posts is simple enough.

I have added a few words to the forum word filter but it's not flawless by any means.

For example it seems to miss fucking swear words.

I get unlimited texts too but I always come over with a load of CBFA! FTW! IYKWIM! NVM!

I must be said and IMO, abbreviations of common word strings really annoy me - it's just bloody lazy! :x
