Hi, I'm CJ, From Leicestershire. I've Just got my Accord Type R home. It's a 2000 in black, needs a little bit of work to bring her back up to scratch, and it seems to have developed a problem when selecting reverse, it feels like there's something blocking it, so if anyone has any ideas what the problem could be, and how to resolve it, i'd be very grateful.

Not good news on the reverse problem.

Have a decent search of the site about the synchros and gearbox and all will be revealed :cry:

Ok, i will do rhys, i know the 5th gear synchro has been done, i may just take it down to the local honda garage and see what they say. :( it work twice, then when i was home, just wouldn't select.

(Also, i think (can't be sure as i don't know anyone on here yet) but i may be the youngest atr owner on here at 21, but i'm sure someone will correct me on that now lol)

Any details of when and who did the synchro ?

I think you are one of the younger bunch. However I'm sure a few peeps on here owned an ATR at 19 :o

welcome cj, try changing the gearbox oil for a decent one, like amsoil, redline etc. that may cure the selection problem.

search for oilman on here for the link to opie oils for the gearbox oil. :agree:

I was new on here not so long ago... the forum is practically an encyclopedia for the ATR.. have a good search for anything you need.. :-( about the reverse gear but nothing than cant be sorted with the right advice!

nice one gettin one at 21! im 24 and got mine beginning of the year..never looked back.. good luck and happy VTEC'ing!!

If you cant get reverse try selecting 5th, going back to neutral and then selecting reverse. Normally works for me! :agree:
