Hi everyone, im stu from shrewsbury. Ive been a little dub head since passing my test 3yrs ago but now i am looking for an accord type r. My budget is about 4k and was wandering whether this will be enough? I have of course had a look on the usual places, pistonheads, ebay, autotrader etc....... Also is there any common problems i should look out for when im going to view 1? Im not really fussy about colour but would ideally like 1 with under 100k miles on and reletively close to the midlands area!! Thanks for any help, Stuart

Hello

There are a few members from around Shrewsbury.

1st of all you need to read...........

Common Problems

and

Buyers guide

But having a 4k budget for an ATR under 100k is a good start. You should get a decent example for that :agree:

4k...Is that the price of an ATR in the UK? what about 11K for a CW ATR in the netherlands! Unbelieveable!

£4k is about right. :agree:

£4k should get you an average condition 80,000 mile 01/02 post or a well looked after 99/00 pre with closer to 100,000 miles. ;)

Don't get too hung up about mileage, Stu. Cars with over 90,000 miles will have had the expensive cambelt service (around £500) already done and maybe even a clutch replacement. 8)

Welcome mate. :hello2:

Like what most people have said, 4k should get you a decent one.

I'll start of looking on the forum first.

i feel your pain :agree: but the ATR RHD is fairly rare in itself, LHD ATRs even more sparce, and yours is only one of 50.

Well, he's right! mine is one of only 50 made between 98 and 99. '00/'03 LHD's aren't CW's anymore but nevertheless, these are very rare also.

I'm just hoping that the value won't drop enormously within 2 or 3 years.
