The reason I'm here is I'm looking into buying an ATR due to the fact they seem to be an Insurance bargain for a powerful car. I've been running quotes on many cars lately due to wanting to change my current car (2002 Focus TDCi) mid next year once I've paid off what I owe on it, I was looking at standard Hatches, Mainly Diesels as most quotes were still well into the 1k mark.
Then I searched on the ATR, £1400 Fully Comp for a 19 y/o, for 220bhp that is truely stunning! Even cars of equal power are 2k plus, as are a lot of less powerful hot hatches. Not new to Honda's as my Parents have a Civic TypeR Championship Edition (2009 Model).
So hoping to pick up some advice and tips ready for the purchase, and am starting saving for fuel now.
Thanks,
David.

I'm old before my time, maybe that's why I want an Accord...

If you are looking for an insurance bargain, some places insure the Integra cheaper than the Accord because of its smaller engine size 1.8 vs 2.2 - even though they have similar performance stats.
But if you are old before your time, then it has to be an Accord

My ideal is black, plan is to put the same wheels as my mums CTR on one, a good exhaust system and that's about it. Not into majorlly changing it around but the standard pipes do not do it justice! Then Detail the living daylights out of it.

I've found due the majority of the Tegs being Imports it seems to stick them right up the pricing charts again. Plus I like have a 4/5 door car, just makes life easier getting people and stuff out of the back
I managed to find the pics, our current link to the TypeR family tree...
I just worry how much I'll upset them when I land something 20bhp more

Liking the CW FN2, wonder what those alloys would look like on a Red or Black ATR

Exactly what I was thinking, set of those in either White or possibly Gunmetal on a Black ATR
EDIT: Just ran a quote on a UK DC2 Integra and came back at £2068 best price... So that's a bit of a no go!

You are fortunate as there are currently 4 (all Black) ATR's not far from you including myself, although I'm only up here during the week.
When you are ready to go out for a run in 1, just post up and I'm sure one of the locals up here will take you for a run out and show you a good example of an ATR

Thanks for the welcome one and all, I'm biding my time for now as I owe a little bit on my current steed and want a clean slate for starting with a new car. As much as I love the Focus, and my previous plan was to buy a 2009 2.0TDCi Focus, I cannot argue with the lure of the 200bhp club!
If anyones interested, I know it's not to everyones taste but it's been modified to my taste and to impress no-one but me, I'll be sad to see it go but it's on 140,000 miles now and starting to cost money, plus I'm bored of 115bhp Doubt I'll modify my next car as much, but then again I said that about the Focus...

Make sure you test drive an ATR to make sure its the car for you.
Coming from a tdci you are going to have to get used to revving the lump to get the best of the car.

One of the reasons they are fitted, love something that causes a bit of controversy. And Unlimited free texts are a godsend! I understand the difference in TDCi to VTEC, I've driven the CTR a few times.

You have The exact reasons why i bought which were :
200+bhp
Cheaper to insure than tegs/civics
Also, this may be hard to believe but did you know that the Accord is very slightly lighter than an FN2 civic type R, which weighs ~1330kgs !

With my dads boat deslie engine, he used WD40 down the inlet manifold which got onto the pistons. This then loosened them up and got it running again.
I think this will only work for boat engines though.--------------------DAN.
