hey guys,

just thought i'd pop on say hi,

looking to get an atr soon, so came on here to see what they are all about.

recently sold my starlet gt turbo, although with most of them in my area now owned by chavs, and me getting bored with it (although 170bhp in a bean can is fun) i miss it, but i'm all in all glad about the decision to get rid of, as i can now get an atr. i have owned the starlet for a few years, and thought about selling it a few times and something i thought about getting everytime was an atr.

currently driving an old volvo 340 as an a-b car. getting the money in the bank for christmas, holiday, and an atr.

just a couple q's

what are they like as a daily driver?

what power can be had on them with a bit of work? a lad i was speaking to the other day with a ek9 ctr said you can easily get 350bhp out of them with a supercharger on standard internals, similar results on the atr engines? or is forging needed

Daily driver, very comfortable and utterly addictive. Vtec is a drug and it gets you hooked

I've owned an couple of ATR's now spanning 6-7 years and the amount of people who have owned one, sold it, moved on and then returned is interesting. Says good things about the car and bad things about the state of trying to find a decent replacment.

Very true Gareth :agree:

Alot of members on here who sell the ATR, bump it, break it or however they change hands end up buying another.

You dont get that with many other cars.

Absolutely fine as a daily driver. Mine is modified and does over 25 miles a day with fuel consumption of between 22-27mpg in Greater London. :agree:

Some guys on this forum have owned the car for 5-10 years and they still enjoy the car. 8)

The seats are very comfortable imo and only a small minority of members find it a problem. :dunno:

Whereabouts are you based? :hello2:

I find the seats comfortable. The clutch isnt too bad for daily use. You will get used it.

The fuel costs are high. Probably worse than the Starlet.

Read the buyers guide. Lot of info on that. As for its not like tuning a turbo car. You will get next to nothing for the thousands that you spend.

The H22A7 ATR engine is not so easy to Supercharge as the K20A, very rarely done and I can't think of any SC or Turbo examples ATR that have lasted very long!

You can throw thousands at an ATR in tuning and get next to nothing

Welcome :hello2:

I've had my ATR a week, and of course - still loving it. It's much more fun than the two previous CTR's I've had.

Do your homework by reading the guides etc here on the forum and don't impulse buy. There's a few good examples out there and expect to pay well for a mint one :)

EDIT: typo city!
