Hi guys, first post on the forum :newb: :hello2:

at the moment i'm driving a modified volvo 850 T5 estate, don't laugh, it's pretty quick!

after 3 years with it though i'm pretty sure i've basically had enough of it. Taken it to an airfield trackday at Marham(had a good duel with an accord type R on R888s actually), done 2 Ring trips in it and to really get it where i want it i'd need to spend yet more money on it. it looks like i've done a deal with a fellow forum member so it should be going to a good home in the next few weeks.

so, onto the next car. been thinking about it and for my extremely low budget (about 3k), only 2 cars seem to be shouting at me. the E36 M3 (3.0 four door) or the accord type R.

not having any real in depth knowledge on both cars i was slanting towards the M3. trouble is, at the budget i'm on 3k is most likely gonna buy a car that subsequently needs more money spending on it.

then i went to my cousins house last night, he has a dc2 integra and the accord for some reason really started to appeal.

i've spent a lot of money over the years modifying my cars and i'd like to now just buy a car that's good out of the box and just shine it up now and again so the last thing i wanna buy is a car with a turbo lol.

anyway, just saying hi and heres a few pics of my volvo and the car previous to that, my old 200sx :thumbleft:

the volvo. maha dynoed at 340bhp

edited to add. i have had absolutely loads of help from forum members who are now good friends of mine. here's hoping for the same here

If you're referring to the 4th october raf marham sunday, the the duel you had with the accord would have been with either littlelegs (silver car, black wheels, very fast) or myself (silver car, driven badly with wheels that never seem to match in colour and design :dunno: )

Welcome to the site :hello2: we have a few ex ovlov owners on the forum. :D

trouble i had was i had goodyear eagle F1s at the time which completely melted and an open LSD. so while i was barp barping out of any corner(ie. wheelspinning lol), he just put his foot down and would make 20-30 yards on me in a second or two! i only managed to get past him when i slipstreamed him on the long straight! was good fun

always good to see pics of cars on track, being used how they should be!

once the volvos sold and i get an ATR i'll probably be going to the ring with some others on the volvo forum. i know i'll be left behind on the way there (straightline speed) but am hoping to surprise a few people once on track

having said that, i haven't even been in an accord type R yet :confused2:

i would be careful spending 3K on a ATR or a M3, more so the M3 as most of the cheap ones are all shagged out by now

thanks for those vids, that ring vid must be the first i've ever seen that actually shows how steep the gradients actually are!

it does show though how important a lack of weight and it really seems to show getting the car to the apex. then the lsd is quick to pull it out.

i've actually spoken to a friend and he's gonna let me drive an EP3 civic type R. should be fun and i imagine quite comparable. the only thing that i think may bother me is the comparitive lack of torque. having said that i actually have my boost controller on my car set up so that i get a good top end, not too bothered about down low.

we'll see 8)
