Hello everyone, just upgraded from a civic vtis to an atr. Got a very good deal on a 51 plate - immaculate, 80,000 miles with full HSH. Am well pleased with the increased, well everything, but think the car may have been decatted and wondered whether this means it will fail the mot on emission. Would be grateful for any advice and or solutions. Cheers.

Some pass and some don't to be honest (sorry not a great answer)

One way that helps is to ensure that the car is fully warm prior to its MOT time. Can't guarantee that it will work, but if its borderline then it will help

Glad you're happy with the car, oh and if you do find out it fails, make sure you've already discovered who your local ATR Forum members are as there are a lot that have decat's and they may be able to lend you a cat to get it through the emissions


Disclaimer: I am not suggesting you swap a cat onto the car purely to gain an MOT certificate as I'm not sure that this is strictly above board

Welcome mate - to check if it has been decated, look at the exhaust after the downpipe (the pipe after the manifold) and if its a straight pipe, its decatted, if its like a massive lump in the pipe, the cats still there.

It will fail on MOT emmissions unfortunately (or old one did anyway when it was decated)

Thanks for all the prompt advice, I'm in sunny Bournemouth. MOT not due until August so not panicking just yet but am grateful for the kind offers and will bear them in mind nearer the time. Thanks again!

I think so, they put some thing long and thin in the hole

I'm taking my car for MOT tomorrow, if I remember I will ask

I have a decat. My car failed last year because of that. I doubt much has changed

I'm in Bournemouth (hello ) and I've got a cat you can borrow if you like. Although I havent tested the cat yet so I dont know whether it will get you through the MOT, I bought it after my MOT last year. But the offer is there should you wish to take up on it.
