Hi people,

Long time lurker but first post!

Looking at joining the Type R fold again after a few months away...

Recently had a DC5 which was fantastic, prior to that had a 5th Gen Prelude Vti so Honda is in the blood! 8)

Had plently in between them also including V7 Impreza STI and a E36 328i but nothing seemed to tick the right boxes like the Type R...

Actually sold the DC5 on a whim and been looking to fill the void since! Decided to replace it with two cars....jsut struggling to find the 2nd one!

Recently bought a Evo 4RS track car (E6 Engine, Cage, 8 Pots, 3" Ti Exhaust, Buckets, coilovers etc) so thats something loud/extreme for the track/weekend blasts but need to get a daily driver.... and the ATR ticks all boxes.

I have driven a few ATR's in the past so know my way about them, I have found one locally however is not exactly as tidy as I would usually go for but it is cheap.......

The question is would you go for one without history (has old mot's to prove milage) if it were priced cheap enough?

Here is the situation: The car is a 2001 y reg, 75k miles, 11months Mot, NHB, current owner for 4 years.
The car has very little / no history as the guy said it was serviced by a mate.......not ideal.

There is rust at the bottom of the o/s drivers door, wheels need a re furb, tracking needs done, its due a full major service (inc belts/filters etc)

I have factored around £1200 to get it in decent condition (£240 belts + £295 major service + £200 wheel refurb + £250 for painting o/s door + £120 road tax)

I drove the car and must say it drove better than it looked! Gearbox was smooth, clutch was light, no noise from the suspension and vtec engaged fine....

Would you feel ok about going for an ATR with no history if it were cheap enough and drove well?

Any advice appreciated,

Cheers,

Dave

Welcome lurker :agree:

Personally I'd prefer there to be stamps in the book etc, but at the end of the day, as you know a bit about ATRs already, it comes down to what you feel is acceptable as far as service history is concerned if the car itself feels fine etc.

Even though, you would expect someone who had done all the servicing themselves to keep receipts of things they did as proof.

Go with your gut instinct buddy :agree:

Other than imports I have had all cars have had FSH so obviously I would prefer it..

TBH it has a few stamps from Honda to about 35k miles. After that it is just the odd receipts etc.

Still if I can bag the car for the right price it may be worth a punt....until it goes wrong!

70k miles 2001 atr with fresh major service + Cambelt etc. Good paint etc for under £3k.......mmm. :dunno:

Going round to view it again on Sat so will see what happens.

Thanks fo the input guys. :agree:
