My name's chris, and although i dont have an ATR, im looking to get one in the very near future. I have seen a couple and once my job is stable at the end of the month...im going to be getting one ASAP.
Any help with regards to what i should look for would be great. I've seen one wit 120k on clock but its in mint condition, is coilovered and recent wheel refurb. looks like its been cared for well too. What sort of milage are the engines expected to do normally? is that high or about right...
Any help would be great.
Hi anyways...hope to be a regular user here over the next however long.

take a read at the "buyers guide" which you'll find on this here forum, search for it
You'll find a few great examples and a few tired ragged cars out there, so shop wisely. Not all examples that are high mileage are well looked after, and some certainly are. It comes down to documented history, receipts etc, a decent test drive and a bit of gut instinct.
Best of luck in your mission

Detailer and Irishteacher have ATR's over 170k and they still track them.
longevity will depend on the treatment by previous owners and how well you maintain it after purchase....
good luck in your search and welcome to the site.

Yea i will have a look at that...cheers. i understand what to generally look for, and that there is no positive identification in terms of how its been looked after. however, i make sure that my cars are very well looked after, with regular oil changes and every thing checked at least once a month for wear or irregularities.

I'm on the Wirral, between Liverpool and North Wales. lol, car i've seen is in scotland and so far, is the only one that i really like. its really caught my eye and have got my hopes set on it tbh. Just waiting for the guy to get back to me about it. Oh...and i need to speak to the insurance too.

That one is a beast. You'd be hard pushed to find a healthier/stronger ATR imo.

I've priced a set of BC coilovers for it that are £580 and are apparently really good...but can you guys recommend any others that are as good and less than £600?
Rang insurance this morn...and its £220 for rest of year, which is dandy...so i can go out and apply for the loan now. Woo!!
Am mega excited...cant wait to get it. Wierdly, the interior is the part im most excited bout. The seats look amazing and the centre console and gearstick is high up when you are sat in the seat, which is exactly what i was after from a car!
Have sold my current car in less than a day too, which was quicker than expected and so im gonna have to sort this out asap.

Only BC's that I know of.
Tein SS are another hundred or so pounds on top of that.
You could always post up a wanted advert here for used Tein/KW coilovers if you limit is £600.

Check out Waz's MINT ATR - everything seems to have been done to inc a recent service and full respray! Bit over you budget but its 90k and well looked after.
The main thing is jsut to get a looked after one - or you could be spending a lot on it
Welcome BTW - If you want a spin or anything, give us a shout
