Hi all,

Well im not completely new to n/a fwd but ive mostly had rwd and turbo cars in my life.
namely 200sx's with s12's and s13's. Had a sensible few years driving an is200 and then a vw lupo and decided to treat myself now my license is clean again.

I found a very well looked after 2001 accord type r example in black. Full honda service history and a large book of all receipts so I made the trade and made the best decision in the past year.

Not everyone will like the modifications/look i will be doing to the car but i like to be different and as im in the vinyl business something a bit lairy wrap wise will need to be done :)
As for the rest of the car im still trying to figure out what bits i need to buy.
I've been advised to get a hondata s300? and get the car remapped with an exhaust and filter fitted along with a h2b conversion using a b series gearbox?
Any light that can be shed on what i can do within a sensible budget is always appreciated.

Just bought the membership so hopefully i can add to the forum a bit as well as using for gaining knowledge.

Take care.

Welcome David :)

You can do anything with car :) S300 is good, but i wouldnt put one on until you dont filter, manifold, exhaust, and to get good gains get some adjustable cam gears, then get it mapped. H2B for the love of boys, or get an MFactory Final drive, however i still prefer H2B as you dont loose on top end like the FD.

Cheers
Jay

Welcome. I disagree with jay on the h2b, imo the FD Is cheaper, easier and engine position stays the same, but thats me. :D get some pics up when you can :agree:

if you wanted to change gear ratios/gearbox etc. there is always the option of fitting a M-Factory 4.64 or 5.15 Final Drive Ring and Pinion to the standard ATR box.

The 5.15 might be a bit hardcore for road use, especially if you plan to remap the thing.

Last time i checked, the H22 4.64 kit was about £355, but you would have to pay import tax on it too, so it will be closer to £400 by the time you've bought gearbox fluid :

http://www.teammfact...gears-road-race

M-Factory advertise 'ETE gains' of 14lbs/ft on the 4.64 and 33lbs/ft on the 5.15. But it would never register on a dyno for various reasons. :agree:

Some of us on here run the 4.64 and i believe that Vtecdirect (Andy) may have run a 5.15 for a short time. :agree:

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

The first thing i will be buying is a set of nice alloys.
In all the years i have been driving i have never bought a set of alloys, they have either been already on the cars or with the 200sx's etc i have kept the cars looks standard and spent the money on tuning.

Decided as i knocked the price of the car down due to curbed wheels i would treat myself :)
A friend of mine has just bought an atr with a full induction kit, i believe its an aem with the intake pipe etc which i am welcome to have.
I think next purchase will be an exhuast, although i was told the factory setup is already quide good if i de-cat it?
I may just buy a full system with a decat pipe as ive seen a few companies selling them for about £400 or there abouts.

Is there a prefered company with this forum, or a forum sponsor etc that people tend to use for performance parts?

Regards,
David

Welcome along :agree: Get some pics up of the ATR ;)

VTECDirect (Andy) is a good place to start for most things, if he doesn't have it in stock he'll most probably get it in for a good price, and will give good advice on anything ATR :agree:

Intake-wise, the K&N Typhoon is pretty much the one to go for on these cars.

For the exhaust, Andy does a full system, as does Solid Fabrications (another trader on here) which both come highly rated, twin or single exit. :agree:

From my estimates putting in a 4.64 FD on a stock rev limit will top you out around 136mph, and a 5.15 will bring you down to 123mph?

The H2B you have closer gears and a good FD so you can still get a good top speed circa 146.

Depends on your location really. Vtecdirect (Cheshire) for north and Solid Fabrication (South London) for South. :agree:

Here are some ideas for wheels :

That sounds pretty accurate. ;) the clocks will indicate more than that. Both myself & Littlelegs had an indicated 142/143mph at RAF Marham. When tested on the Dyno, it actually hit the limiter at 134mph, so 136mph sounds pretty fair to me. :)

5.15 would be a nightmare, i reckon. you'll definately spin up in 1st and 2nd at high revs and 4th gear would probably run out at about 97mph.
I can pull away in 2nd gear in mine at the moment and need 3rd gear to hit 60mph, so 1st gear would be silly in a 5.15.

As for wheels im thinking about getting the new sparco 10 alloys.
Something a bit different. I was going to get lightweight wheels but with the state of the roads around here i dont want to risk too much damage.
2 friends have had lightweight rotas damaged from potholes.

Even with oem wheels, you're not safe. I had a standard wheel buckle last feb / mar because of the state of the roads with bits of tarmac that just simply aren't there. disgust

Welcome along.

I personally use Rota's (SDX's) and now have spares if I hit another big pot hole. :(

Not that I wouldn't recommend them. :D
