Number of downloads: 108 Hello all, due to having a 7 week old girl I really need to sell the ATR.

Unfortunately, after 1 week that I put it up for sale (was £1900), the power steering belt came off and according the the garage, the engine now needs a rebuild as crankshaft pulley is worn? I haven't taken it to anyone else for a 2nd opinion. Apparently this would cost around £1000 to fix.

I considered scrapping it but would only get £100 which would be a big waste on a car that is otherwise fine. I can't afford to repair it, and Andy is too far away to fix it. Unless I tow it up to him which again isn't finanacially viable. I don't have space to break it apart and sell parts, but I'm sure someone else here will be able to make some money from it or take it on as a project.

Apart from this issue, the car as a whole is in very good condition:


51 plate facelift
136,000 miles
4 relatively new tires
6 months tax (which I just bought to go with the sale before it broke down!) If you don't need this, I will keep it and get a refund
Lots of service history including 1 by VTEC Direct last year
No gearbox issues
New handbrake put in this year
New battery this year

Crankshaft pulley is worn so the garage says it needs a re build. :shock:

Hello everyone, thank you for your interest and sorry for the delay in response as I get very busy....I forgot to mention that I live in Norfolk so this could be a problem for some of you folks.

I appreciate that I need a second opinion but I'm not 100% whether the car would make it to the next destination! Otherwise I would probably take it to Andy or some other recommended mechanic here.

why are people having a go at Tiff for making an offer as this is what the OP states in his original post - £900 or make a reasonable offer - if the seller doesnt want to take £600 then he can just say no. :dunno:
