After an absolutely joyful ownership the Accord is now up for sale to make way for my first house purchase.

I'd always fancied an Accord Type R since seeing Damon Hill on Top Gear all those years ago (being 13 years old anything with a big spoiler was easy game!). I'd been a Volkswagen/Audi but for 8 years before I finally bought one. My best friends are all Honda fanatics and had been telling me for years to buy one, but I resisted because, "The only one I would ever buy would be an Accord Type R and I don't need one."

Fast forward a few years and my mint Corrado VR6 was accumulating hefty mileage on my daily commute and it was also coming off the road for a partial respray. So rather than buy a cheap ecobox I thought I would buy something interesting :) Owned the car for approximately 8 months and enjoyed every minute, the handling on this car is sublime!

Reason for sale? About to put a deposit down on a house so the Accord is being turned into a Sofa and flatscreen telly :evil4:

So, the details;

- 1999 Honda Accord Type R Air Con model (and the Air Con actually works!)
- 132,000 miles
- Fll history (mix of Honda and independent including VTEC direct)
- DC5 Integra Wheels, fitted with Continental Contact Sport 5 tyres which have done approx 6,000 miles (these tyres are amazing! A million times better than the Yokohama Parads that I bought it with)
- Tein Strut Brace, worth about £200 on it's own i'm told.
- 5 months MOT
- 5 month Tax
- Lightened Clutch and flywheel fitted by VTEC direct about 15,000 miles ago
- Mugen Pedals
- EGR delete
- K&N panel filter
- New Radiator
- Valve clearances checked about 4000 miles ago
- 5th and reverse gear synchro fitted by VTEC direct about 15,000 miles ago
- Drilled front discs and updated pads fitted by VTEC direct
- Cambelt, Water Pump and camshaft end seal replaced at 127,000 miles
- New Rear Anti Roll Bar Bushes at 128,000 miles
- New OSR door handle from honda recently
- Oil change done last week
- Always run on Tesco 99 since i've owned it.
- Uprated 6000k HID bulbs fitted by previous owner
- New OSR outer door handle fitted iin May (genuine Honda)
- Full Service history up to about 120k, serviced by myself thereafter.

Bad bits
- Uses a litre of oil every 900-1,200 miles, depending on how much you VTEC, been told this is normal on this mileage. UPDATE: Been using 10W50 as advised on here and no oil usage so far in 2000 miles :D
- Usual Drivers seat wear (see photos)
- Shallow dent on lower part of OSR door. Shallow dent on upper bonnet near washer jet and the odd 5p parking dents on near side doors. x1 on edge of drivers door.
- Both rear door cards have a mark on them. Oddly in the same place. It looks like someone has been careless getting a child seat out.
- Off side tie rod boot split. It's not quite knocking yet but I have bought a new one which I will provide with the sale.
- Laquer peeling on boot spoiler
- Being picky; the front and rear bumpers could do with a respray due to stone chips/knocks and the lower valances front/rear are going a little pink (I usually T cut these bits at each polish)
- OSR caliper seized meaning handbrake doesn't work very well. £60 for a new one off eBay.

In light of the bodywork issues I am asking £1550 or nearest offer. I am located in Sudbury, Suffolk.

This was my car until February this year. Great car! It's had over 2.5k spent on it between September 2010 and January 2011. It's well worth more than that. All the common faults have been fixed by Vtec Direct on both visits to him.

Thanks for the good words. If it wasn't for the fact I can't afford to run two motors when I get a house I would be keeping it. It's really got under my skin!

As my parents live in Sudbury (I was there for 22 years) I'm half tempted to buy this and leave it at my parents for a runabout when back in the country... whilst I continue living in the south of france , it's a bloody bargain and £500 will soon sort most of the things mentioned :agree:

Surprised LL isn't sniffing around as he's not so far away from it
