why cant we use image shack for picture hosting?! is someone getting comission for photobucket?!

so can someone explain why photobucket is ok to use for the forum but imageshack isnt?! i have used image shack for a long time and use it for other forums but for some reason it isnt allowed on this forum??

is there a reason behind this and if there is can someone please explain it for me?

no other forum I use, and used with image shack, doesnt have a problem with it so what gives here?!

anyone!?

and the reason my tone is angry is because i spent time taking pictures and writing up a bit of a topic for members, resized photos, hosted them and then the forum said i cant use image shack. waste of my time. disgust

This is more than likely a security issue.

The only thing that is currently disallowed (as with many forums) is dynamic links, they can open loop holes to the wrong people.

Paste a link in here for one of your pictures and we can see if it's a true link or a dynamic. :agree:

PS: not sure if you're sub-title about commission was a joke or not but you can't get commission and I've never personally use either service you mention.

nah Ed, that was a joke about the comission after i went searching on the forum for any previous issues with this but all i saw was people suggesting photobucket so that was all.

nope, no joy

when i try to use the picture link and then insert the image location, as you normally would when embedding pictures, it just fires up in a red bar across the top "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board."

Ah, because it's not a valid image file - .jpg is fine but not php on the end.

Are there any other links to that particular image that end with the proper format .jpg without the =landing?
