Always wanted one and found one for sale on my doorstep, so did the unintelligent thing and made an emotional purchase, before doing much back ground research.
Anyway, had the cambelt and auto tensioners changed at a Honda dealer and took it straight away to Paris (because why not?).
So my introduction to the ATR was a 1000 mile round trip, and things are mostly positive!
The downsides:
front and rear end knocking on bumps - will need further inspection.
cloudy headlights - hopefully elbow grease and declouding kit will fix.
Everyone's favourite, rust. On closer inspection, it's had the nearside passenger footwell cut out and welded in its lifetime, and there's evidence of underseal behind the front shock towers. Every morning I drove it, its sounded like I was flicking up gravel for the first 20 metres, so I got out and looked and there was not insignificant sized pieces of rust on the road behind.
I'll get the bumpers, bonnet and wings off this weekend for a closer inspection. Is there anywhere else I should look?
Also wondered if they car previously belonged to still active members, or if anyone could shed any more light on its history? MOT history check shows promising lack of MOT failures in its life, but that doesn't always tell the truth.
