Welcome to the gang. I'm nearly 50 so I know how you feel. Nearly bought one 10 years ago but did buy one eventually and did it properly :agree:/>

Thanks Detail D. I'm guessing from Moyz comment that you have a nice one. That said, I would imaging that all members here have nice ones.

Have been working away this week so not had many opportunities or a chance to update.

I'm still waiting on the log book arriving and until it does then I'm reluctant to be putting any money into it. The good new is that that the DVLA have cashed my cheque and sent me a letter saying that the application is being processed and the VC5 should be issued on this date plus maybe 5 working days.

The rear view mirror is £90+ from the main stealer and even at this price it does not include the mounting plate. The mounting plate is actually part of the windscreen. I do have a options on this front.

Ive found the leak, its coming from the NS rear light cluster. I am hoping that a new seal or complete unit will sort that, though I understand that it could also be coming in from elsewhere. Time will tell I guess.

Latest thing is that my lad sold his temporary winter vehicle while the DC5 is garaged. I think he may use the ATR until the spring. Positive note for me is that it saves me driving him up and down the country each weekend looking for a winter car. He's outside detailing it right now. Brave lad its freezing!!!!

Thanks all.

Quick update and new problem.

The log book arrived on Thursday. Yay...
Friday morning and my son does an owner change, insures it, takes it for a (decat :-)) MOT, and taxes it. Yay..... because this saves me running him up and down the country for a temp winter car.
Car is great apart from the know niggles. (ABS sensor was spliced for the MOT as not in stock at ECP)
Son does a 100 mile round trip yesterday to collect new wheels and tyres. Yay.

Now the bad bit.
I get a text to say he has broken down. Boooooooo
He went over a 'bump' and it lost power and cut-out.
Some of the HT leads had 'come-off' the dizzy???? is this possible?
HT leads re-seated (hopefully in the correct sequence) but car would not fire (possibly flooded?) Battery goes flat...... :-(
Recovered back home/to the garage. Garage did not have chance to look at it today.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers,
B2YLS

Thanks toyracer69. As is normal with todays youngsters, my sons been on facebook and has been advised something similar. I think he said coil pack related, but not the coil pack, rather something in between. I'm hoping all will be revealed tomorrow if the garage get chance to look at it. Its got to be something in that area, hoping its an easy fix and not an indicator of something more serious.

Regards,
b2yls.

lol. Ok, thanks Pete. You'd think as father and son that spend all day texting that we'd actually communicate better!!!! TBF, as I said I knew he'd been asking about on FB, but wasn't aware it was the same audience!!!

Anyway, he'll be going to see if they've had a chance to look at it today. I'll update later.

Thanks again,

Thanks Pete, the advice on here and facebook was correct, ignition coil it was. Maybe, via facebook, you all know this already... :-)

The weather is pretty cr@p up here at the moment so we've not really had the chance to get it out and enjoy it. Hopefully we can get the wheels on and check out the leaky rear light cluster at the weekend.

I have another question re solar plexius, but I'll start a separate thread somewhere else for that.

Thanks guys.

We have a reasonable afternoon today so this is what I found regards the leaky rear light cluster. It came out real easy, 4 8mm nuts and undo the fitting and it was out in about 2 minutes flat. Disappointingly, the seal looks to be very good condition. It had some dirt around it, but not much. Ive cleaned it all up and its now in the house drying out. I don't know where I will go from here, possibly do it up a bit tighter when I re-fit it shortly.

Not been updated for a while.

Sorted the RV mirror out a few months ago with a SH one complete with back plate and its still attached :-)

Today it had the horrible notchy/whining power steering issue sorted. Simple fix, just needed the belt tightening on the tensioner.

And I bought a full set of braided lines for it. Today found out it already had them on the rear (why rear only?), so only fitted to the front.

£30 labour all in for today. Happy days.

Looking forward to having it as my daily anytime soon.

Hi, there is still a slight ingress somewhere but its minimal. I'll climb in the boot in a few weeks and get someone to hose it for me.

For the rear light, I removed it and from memory there is no seal at all that others have evidenced, but it doesn't appear that that its ever had them. Not sure if that is because mine is a really early model or what. If you look at the rear of the cluster there is a tray, and this had about 1/4" of water in it. There was also water inside the fitting behind the lens. Obviously I drained and dried it etc, but what I did notice was the slight gap between the lens and the rear of the fitting. Ive probably not explained that very well as all the edges meet, but not at the top of the fitting, allowing water to sit around it. So I cut some small strips of duct tape and covered the 'gap'. Refitted it and made sure everything was nipped nice and tight. There's no water pooling inside the tray or fitting now.

there are a few pictures of mine on my lads Instagram, look for dc5kenz.

Logbook in my name yesterday. Insured and taxed.

Just had it out for a first real blast on some twistys. One word for it. Scary!!!!!!

Ive driven the Evo T in the DC5 and I have to say the roads around here are not a patch on that. Glad I wont be driving like that everyday. :-)

That's one word for it. Had to check my undies when I got home though! I was too busy looking at the road, looking for oncoming traffic, and holding on to see the clocks but you have to be giving it some to find crossover in 4th.

It was pretty twitchy though, not sure if that was the road, a characteristic of the car, or the coilover setup which I might have to get looked at.

Next outing will be to The Trough of Bowland I reckon, roads are much nicer up there.

It hasn't had a geo setup/alignment from the previous owner to me nor have I or Joey.

Hi Sam, thanks. I have a receipt from Eden Tyres dated last June for front toe angle alignment which I assumed was you so I thought it had been done. Grinspeed is good for geo so I'll get it booked in there soon. Cheers.
