How do..
I'm Pete,
I currently have a boxster, which i am thinking of changing to and ATR
i seen about bulk heads etc, i am used to Jap cars, thats where i come from and i kinda miss the jap car scene (even though i race a rx8)
I want a 4 door car that is fun, something i can tinker with, as the porsche just does everything so well i have no need to tinker! and these tick the boxes
I am on verge of doing a deal with this car
https://www.swapz.co..._Accord_Type_R/

wondered what sort of money are they worth now, as don't want to loose out. prices i have seen vary soo much.
It might even be a member on here.. if so Hi ya!! looking forward to extra pictures

Its hard as every time i drive the boxster i love it, its awesome. but i get bored easy ( had over 120 cars) but i have had the boxster for a year now, thats a long time for me, only car i have had longer was my focus st, and mr2 mk1,

But i have never had a honda so think its time to give one a go, i want it as the fiesta st we have is a little small climbing in/out for my daughter as a family holiday car and the shogun tow car likes to drink fuel.. so the intention is a 4 door fun fast but will be epic going up to scotland for family road trip etc/etc

Im rambling sorry , so Hi.. and what is a v plate 115k one worth now days

thanks
Pete

Even the youngest ATR is 17 years old. At this age condition is more important. You can pay far more and far less for an ATR - again condition dependant. This one looks about right for the miles but you cannot tell until you see in in the metal.

Remember its a pre and there are the usual synchro issues to be wary of. The main things I would be considering is the service history and structural rust.

I have had my 2002 for just over a year now and love it despite it breaking down in Spain. They are not the fastest out and out cars and they require a particular driving style.

Good Luck

It's not a bad price at all.
You're right about the bulkhead issues. Get your head well up into the footwell above the pedals and peel back the carpet. That'll tell you if you've got a bad case of rust. I've not seen an ATR with roof gutter rust, so that could be an odd one.

Hi,

I would just like to add that when I was looking for mine about a year and a half ago there was a black one available in that town where the roof gutter rust was an actual hole. I never bothered viewing that one.

Cheers,

Welcome Pete,

Exactly as everyone else has said, buy on condition not mileage.

They are not the fastest car but there is something about them, they can handle pretty much every scenario you chuck at them. I'm fortunate to have one with more grunt in it then most but it still does the nursery run, shopping trips, weekends away and shows anything a clean pair of heels on most back roads.

By now most ATR's will probably have had that sorted, and even most Facelifts need the same treatment, unless they are one of the very last ones made. :agree:

Oh and hello and welcome to the OP.

Bulkhead rust is almost inevitable, there aren't many examples that are completely rot free, same as the upper chassis legs and the but by the jacking points. It is more of a question of how bad the rot is.

Roof rot and arch rot is far less common though. Cars rot from the inside and, if it is suffering with these, then it is likely the bulkhead and other areas will be quite bad.
