Hi,

I'm looking at a Honda Accord Euro R (CL7 I believe) imported from Japan.

Not my first car from Japan, but this one is to be used as a daily drive.

I'm wondering what the residual value is in the car?

Thanks

I have seen these advertised for between 6 and 8 K for a decent example. Tend to be better examples imported although still high mileage for what you can buy domestically for the same money.

I briefly considered a CL7 but could not justify the cost and actually prefer the CH1. I find the interior of the CL7 boring despite being more modern than the CH1.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

I'm looking at a fresh import, 1st UK owner through torque gt.

I like Honda for the reliability and general hassle free motoring. I'm not looking to modify it, just run it around as a daily as my weekend car is a S15.

Have they always been at the 8k mark? Never really looked into them

Welcome

They've floated between 6 and 8k

I'm sure that's what they cost to import, if not more

I think theres currently 5 cl7s for sale over here all around 7k

Myself and user kp have both recently acquired fresh imports.

I commissioned my own import and the whole process took around 4 months. Unless you are the patient type then I wouldn't recommend this. The main reason I chose this route was because I was adamant that I didn't want a white one. There was also an element of wanting to be the first owner on the log book. A stock one will most likely already be registered to the importer.

Personally, I am very happy with my purchase for the overall cost of the whole process, I don't think I'll make any money on it, but I don't expect I'll lose out either.

As for its suitability as a daily, it is absolutely fine. It can be as mild as you want, but you'll know about it if you stamp on the loud pedal.

see my thread here... http://www.accordr.o...__1#entry772047

I very much doubt you'll have any regrets.

Yes did the same with the S15, ended up waiting 6 months in the end, but ended up with a stunning clean car.

Im looking at one for around 10K, 64000miles, but very clean car, and under sealed from Torque GT, where I imported my previous car.

Does that sound reasonable?

It sounds perfectly reasonable. Mine was sourced from a dealer rather than the auctions, allowing for a better inspection and test drive. It is very clean and was undersealed on import. I think you'll end up with some change from £10K. It was 140K something miles, converted to 92K something miles on import and speedo conversion. I don't want to publish the final price publicly but feel free to PM me if you want anymore details.

What about fuel, do they only run on 99RON so v-power/bp ultimate etc?

I know my S15 only runs on 99ron, but I wasnt sure about the Accord being NA

Many owners I know swear by V-power. ATRs seem to like it. In fact, H22s in general do. The mpg improves slightly, I found, and the difference in cost per mile isn't quite as much as the difference in cost per litre.

That said, I've also found that the occasional bit of 95 doesn't seem to hurt.

I agree with Sailor, using SUL seems to pay for itself with marginally better mpg, I've done so on most of my cars over the years.

Best to use 99 on any high compression or turbo car...max power and consumption plus the added benefits of the cleaning agents 👍

I always ran my ATR on V-Power (or whatever the hell its called) and my EGR system was always cleaner than a c**t in a convent 😁

I only ever use shell V power so cannot comment on any performance/mpg figures as I have nothing to compare against.

I think even if I went with the icetronix ecu mod that claims to be mapped for 95 ron, I'd still use 99.
