Hello guys,

I'm Lionel, from France (near Paris). I just bought an Accord Type R (Pirates black, MY 2000) that... I already own 4 years ago !
When I saw in in the adds, I couldn't let it go. Some of you may know me, I was in Silverstone some years ago. We did a picture will all Type Rs for my book Road to the red zone: the Honda Type R story.

I really like the "raw" character of the CH1. I had FN2, FK2, FD2 and DC5. The FD2 looks like the finest FWD car I had but RHD is a pain in France and its price is rising constantly.

The Accord offers a more relaxed drive, it will be perfect for me.

But I forgot how the engine felt. Compared to the K20A engine, it really feels empty below VTEC and the suspension is quite soft.

So I'm planning various optimisations. The exhaust is a little bit tired, so I may go to Solid fabrications (manifold + cat + catback).
Also, the K&N Typhoon seems a good choicefor the intake. With a remap, it will be all I guess. If I can have 230/240 bhp and a better torque curve, it will be enough.

Now the suspension. I had Ohlins coilover on the FD2 it was perfect. I'm not sure it exists for CH1. So maybe MeisterR ? Did anyone tried them ?
After that, maybe good brake pads and it will be all. I drive +/- 15 000 a year, and maybe 1 or 2 trackdays just for fun, so it will not be a track toy.

If you guys have ideas or feedbacks on the parts I mentionned, I'd be very happy to have your opinions !

More pictures later. :-)

Hello and welcome Lionel :hello2:

Feel free to put more pictures of your car :agree:
About the modifications you want to do, for a daily drive you may try the Bilstein/Eibach combo, for a daily car it is a good choice .
Cheers!

Thanks for the answer ! Do you have a model in mind for the combo ?

Ah something I forgot. I actually have a steering wheel from a Civic Type R EP3 and I really struggle to find a OEM steering wheel.
I guess it's a difficulty for everyone here, but anyway, I'm looking for one, so if you know someone who sells one, I'd be interested.

Thanks !

Hello guys. One question because I can't find anyone who did it.

I previously owned a FD2 and I had Mugen GP wheels (18 inches). I like them because they're really light. I wonder if anyone tried to fit 18in wheels on a CH1 ?

I usually try to keep wheel sizes as OEM, but maybe it's worth a try ? I don't have the tires on it unless I would have done it.

I'm sure they would go on fine, with the correct ratio tyres to keep the overall diameter the same but usually to the determent of the way the chassis rides....

Personally I would stick with 17's. :agree:
