Hello,

I'm a long time Accord Type R, S2000 and Integra DC2 (now gone) owner. Unfortunately running both a 14 year old ATR and a 16 year old S2000 is starting to become expensive and we really need a more modern car for our day to day driving.

So with that in mind, we are looking for a new custodian for our much loved Accord Type R.
I should mention that we are quite happy to keep the car, and i no rush to sell, but if we can find an enthusiast who will love the car and be able to keep on top of it, we will let it go.

Details.
We have owned this car for 9 years now, having bought it from Lincoln Honda. In that time all it's services have been with Lloyd Honda in Carlisle, who also still look after my S2000. Mark, our technician is a massive fast Honda fan and really looks after my cars, and I can't speak highly enough of Alistair and the rest of the service team there.
We are the fifth owner of the car.
All invoices for service life of car for everything (inc wipers) back to 2005
Mileage - 143k and climbing slowly
MOT - 31st Aug 2017
A/C model - working
Timing belt, tensioner, water pump all done May 2010, 91458 miles - Lloyd Honda
Clutch - OEM Honda - 94305miles- Vtecdirect. Still fine - no groans or judders.
The car is due a small service in October. Last one did the valve clearances.
Goodyear Eagle F1 all round in good nick
Two sets of keys
Original Honda radio/cd
Pre facelift Backboxes fitted - Genuine Honda
No gearbox issues
Front suspension arms done last year for worn ball joints
New rear calliper and gearbox selector oil seal done this month.
Disks and pads all round done last year at 135k
Both front subframe mounts had rotted so new panels have been welded in - and a proper professional job has been done, which you are welcome to inspect
Bulkhead is rot free and just ready for a bit of tlc to keep it that way. - I had the car undersealed when I got it, and it has done it's job well. (picture of under both wheel arches attached.)
Rear Type R badge just replaced as it was going pink!
Crankshaft pulley, woodruff key and bolt just replaced with Honda items.

Bad Points
Both bumpers need re-spraying. My wife has to park in a supermarket car park for work and it's taken it's toll.
Area behind the front wheel arches (both sides) starting to rust a little (only surface, usual Honda problem. My S2000 also suffered from this)
Had both those jobs quoted all in at £450.
A couple of the wheels are starting to bubble up a bit.
Four new parking dents since I had it de-dented (grrr) All minor and easily undented.
Paint is in good condition but remember it is a 14 year old car.

Other details:
We have a private plate to remove once our new car's V5 comes through.

If you're looking for one of these, you'll realise that rust free ATRs are somewhat of a rarity these days. I can provide full pictures of the underside on request.
As we keep the car we will work through some of the jobs above so the price may go up as we tackle cosmetics etc
At present we would sell it, as is for £2000
Not really interested in selling to non-enthusiasts, we are quite happy to keep it as a classic and put a few miles on it here and there. We won't be selling to dealers, breakers etc.

Hi Neil. In a hurry. Saw your message via my Outlook inbox, but not able (yet) to reply to it here - maybe I need a paid sub to chat? Anyway, will sort it out. Can I just ask: I think this is a facelift model, yes? Thanks, Gillian

Hi Gillian,

I'm playing with my band this evening and then off up to Scotland tomorrow first thing to look at a replacement car, so might be out of contact for a few days. It's not going anywhere and you were the first to get in touch so don't hurry. It's not going anywhere at the moment :)

No, no, I need a new car that doesn't need too much attention. The S2000 gets all my spare cash and time.

Love the red. My Teg was red (or mostly pink by the time I sold it)

Thanks Neil. I PMd you with my own personal tale of woe, so it'll be waiting for you when you get home. (Tho' it must be some kind of special car, albeit presumably not an ATR, that has you coming up here to Scotland for a look-see?!)

Oh and BTW Moyz: your car is lovely, and I don't live that faraway from you either - but I just. Simply. Absolutely. HATE the ATR in red! I'm SO sorry, because otherwise I probably would have scooped it off of you by now, I really would. But mine is silver and while (and that only VERY possibly) I might MAYBE settle for black? I just simply cannot do red, I really just CAN'T! (Otherwise all my current problems would be over, believe me, and it would be at least ONE thing I could strike off the list of my currently-incredibly complicated life...!)

That's all very well, but I've seen several other threads on here that wandered "off-topic" far further than this one - just sayin'...

Very true but this IS a 'For Sale' thread and so is no way allowed. :agree:

We've decided to keep hold of this car for a while longer. It's worth more to us than the £2k I think :)/>/>
