Honda service history to 90,000 miles, then serviced at a specialist.
• Oil changed at 5,000 mile intervals with Shell Fully Synthetic Oil.
• Has always been run on Shell V-Power fuel.
• Gearbox oil changed annually with Honda MTF.
• Engine and gearbox in great running order, always starts on the button. Gearbox selects all gears smoothly with no crunching into reverse.
• Discs and pads changed last year, plus callipers refurbished with new seals and pistons. Honda discs and pads. Plenty of life in them.
• Wheels powder coated Anthracite Grey.
• Good tyres all round. Fronts replaced this Summer with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3. Space saver spare.
• K & N Typhoon induction kit.
• Fujitsubo super ex manifold.
• Tanabe Hyper Medallion full stainless steel exhaust system with decat.
• Exedy Lightened Fly wheel with Honda clutch.
• Balance belt removed.
• Solid front engine mount.
• Timing belt and water pump replaced in March 2013 at 115,000 miles. Timing belt manual tensioner kit fitted at the same time.
• XYZ fully adjustable coilovers.
• Anti roll bar bushes replaced in May 2015.
• Interior in good original condition with factory fitted Recaros, slight fade on rear seats as in common on these cars.
• Rear windows professionally tinted.
• Bulkhead welded and sealed. A common issue on all Accords of this generation was water collecting and rusting the bulkhead. See accordr.org for further details. On early warning signs, I had the job done by a specialist garage. Almost all Accords of this age suffer from this issue at some point, this has been treated on this vehicle.
• Only one set of keys.
• Air conditioning has been removed.
This car is in great running condition and drives faultlessly.
There are, however, some problems that do need addressing:
• Driver’s door was replaced with a door that does not match paint-wise. The reason for the replacement was due to somebody reversing into it outside my house. Before I had the opportunity to get it re-sprayed, it has been knocked again. A new door, or having the current one fixed and sprayed would be required.
• There is a slow leak from the steering rack. On inspection it looks at though it is coming from a hose on the driver’s side of the rack, which should be a straight forward fix.
• The front end has a good deal of stone chips, plus a scrape on the front bumper. With regards to the rest of the car; the paint work is generally in good condition for it’s age.
• The Type-R stickers are missing from the rear doors. They became loose and jet washed off with age. However, they are available from Honda for approx. £25 each.
• Near side headlight has gone cloudy. However, the car comes with a reconditioned unit which just needs fitting.
• Rubber window seals on the near side have started to perish. Again, the car comes with replacements that need fitting.
For a car of 17 years old she is a great looker, and runs perfectly. Certainly not a project car, however, with a little TLC would be awesome. I have owned the car since 2009, and have enjoyed every minute of it.
Any areas that are in need of attention are reflected in the price, as it’s priced well below the going rate as I no longer have the space for the car, and need a quick sale.
