Saw a silver NSX in Asda the other day... M**NSX in the queue for the petrol pump.

I was quite shocked that anyone with the money to buy an NSX would use Asda 95 RON fuel.

Not seen one around here at all before either.

and he was probably using asda 10w40 to top up with lol. cars like that need the best lubrio and highest quality petrol for longivity, isnt that right? then again, could have been just a quick top up with a fivers worth of 95... so youre right... who indeed cares... WE DO.. its a HONDA!

Surely all of the above mentioned cars should be ran on 98ron+?

back on topic..
been some time since i've seen an NSX, was one for sale in Wigan at a marque garage some time ago but looked like a rotter, dented panels, burgundy colour and priced high for its age (was one of the first ones).

I once saw a driver of a newish Audi RS4 fill up with 95 RON in a Sainsbury's petrol station. I was so shocked I nearly called the Police.

Seriously? You don't see the need to use a higher grade of fuel in a performance car? :confused2:

Higher grade? what, coming out of a pump with a "label" on, higher Octane rating or something else?

If the car wasn't capable of running on 95 ron fuel, it would say so. Just like pre facelift ATR's, Focus RS etc. I understand all the additives arguement and the historical risk of supermarket petrol, but hey, planes crash and I still fly.

The over dramatic comments this thread begger belief, its not like the owners were rubbish bearing grease into the carpets or washing the car with ditch water. They were putting regulated fuel into the fuel tank in line with the manufacturers recomendations.

When I used to ride 2 stroke motor bikes I used 2 star petrol (showing my age here) I didn't change that until they took 2 star away and I had to use unleaded 4 star. I just do not see or appreciate the reasoning for using something that isn't necessary or that fact that folk are getting there knickers in a twist about it :dunno:

But, if thats your bag - then more power to you :agree:

I once watched someone in disbelief buy a litre bottle of 'Tesco 2-stroke lawnmower oil',
walk over to her '07 golf GTI, open the oil filler cap and pour in the contents.

any fuel mate. filled up at tesco's before Oulton Park the other week ;)
Only motor that ever got V power was the ATR, both CTR's got 95 ron and still made power and ran well even after 75k in 2.5 yearswith many track days and a 130mile per day A road commute :)

sorry, ...can you tell i'm bored lol.
i used to sometimes put 95 in the s2000, but not very often as the engine aint really designed for 95 (pinking occurs amongst other possible problems surfacing). supermarket 95 fuel is not always great quality, but you would have to compare 2 engines internally over a period of time to see the benefit of 98Ron (and the power advantage to add) and any negative affect on internals from using 95. :agree:
but its been done i think, and 98 is better for your car, apparantly.
