DC2 Type R versus ATR

I drive and work on two tegs regulary, both are extremely fit, one of them is well over 200whp, the other is a smidgen over stock power.

A stock DC2 is quicker than a stock ATR if your sprinting them, the ATR takes over in the tallest gear.

Around the twisties, the DC2 is quicker.

Not a massive difference mind, but there is a difference.

As an all-round package, the ATR gets my vote, as the DC2 is just too raw.

Dont get me wrong, im not by any means slagging the dc2, there utterly fantastic.

imo, the teg ( apart from the EK9 ) is the best cracker-jack hot hatch EVER made, and ive driven and worked on about all of them, from a mk1 golf gti upto a 197 Clio :agree:

If I had to get home in a hurry, and I had a choice of cars all lined up for me, I would have to flip a coin between the DC2 and EK9.

When you're test driving one don't expect anything just let it do what it does and you do what you do and feel what the car does and how it responds and you'll not be disappointed,i certainly wasn't and i came from a funky eg6.

VTEC #4 - EG6 SiR2 (The Special One) - 2 years away lol

I didnt think that they were anywhere near as quick, so is good to hear that they are somewhere close to the Integra. Any of you guys any tips on how much i should spend on one? I dont want to spend over 3k and am seeing some for sale around 2.5k and less are these generally very ropey cars or is it just a sign of the recent downturn? Would there be many ATR's out there that would be a complete no-go?

If you can afford it, try to spend a bit more. If not try to look at a few befrore you buy to get a good idea of whats good and whats not so good :agree:

Kind of set myself that limit. Would expect the odd dent here and there. I am into german cars mostly hence my relative lack of knowlege of these cars. So know the usual stuff how to look over a body etc but sometimes certain cars when they are cheap they are scrap so was wondering if these are like that. Think you are right, thanks for the advice will try see a few b4 i dig into my pocket.

Not looking for a concours car and i want the pre- facelift model so hopefully that should be enough to get a good one.

My cousin has a Teg but I know that the difference is not very much. Get rid those of the overweight and the ATR is a Teg imo

No, I have seen a few for sale over here alright at the minute dont know where they are springing out of because i can count on one hand the amount i have seen over here in my lifetime. I will be living in the UK for a few years so am looking for a uk car. Nice not having to pay our illegal protectionism tax.
