Thought I'd say hi. Bought an ATR yesterday and liking it so far though the gearbox is bit rubbish. Will put a couple of pics up in a bit

Its a 99 pre-facelift in black - well purpley balck :lol:
No mods apart from some TSW alloys - which I'm looking to replace with something better.

I've got no crunching from the gearbox just not very tight seems to move to far when you change gear, think it may be the fork selector. Not sure what else it might be :dunno:
Presumbly worth changing 5th gear synchro at the same time

With my dads boat deslie engine, he used WD40 down the inlet manifold which got onto the pistons. This then loosened them up and got it running again.

I think this will only work for boat engines though.--------------------DAN.

hmmm, welcome mate, the ATR does have quite a big gearbox when changing from gear to gear, a way to test the gear box it vtec fully in 3rd then change to 5th, but do this at your own decression :agree:

Everybody moans about the gearbox at first. :lol: The Achilles heel of the ATR. :-(

It probably just needs some TLC and a couple of bits replaced. :D

Didn't realise it was a rare option.

Live in Manchester, so hope to catch up with the local ATR owners soon.

Had an e36 318iS before this, well still got it actually. It is not bad but too slow, so needed something a bit more exciting even though its only for a daily drive. Was tempted by a DC2 as used to have one of these, but thought ATR might be interesting to try and a bit better all round. My other car is an RX7 - this one:

Gearbox could be the fluid as mines pretty tight (for an ATR) but getting a PSPEC shirtshift to lessen the throw and tighten up things a bit :D
