My name is Chuck based in the midlands and I have joined the site for a while but have not started posting as I have been looking for the right moment to introduce myself and the right moment was when I get my first CL1 Euro. Well my journey begins today. It has taken almost 8 years to save up and I collect my first ever CL1 at 13:00pm today (19.4.2014) and I hope to enjoy it in the years to come ("Hooray!").
I am not totally new to the car as I have owned the estate version (a 1998 Accord Wagon CF6) for almost 10 years now and besides that I have had owned several older versions of the Accord (such as the CD6 SiR and CB7) but for me, the CL1 tops the list. The power of the H22A is absolutely phenomenal delivering exceptional performance which is so addictive as experienced in my CD6 SiR.
With three kids all nearly finishing secondary school and on an average budget, I think you can tell that I am over with the days of modification or extracting every pound of torque from the motor, however, I am open to sensible modifications and suggestions which will compliment the car. (I am believer of Wolf in Sheeps Skin).
I must say that there are lots to be learnt from this forum and I get the impression that most of the authors are here advanced mechanics or of similar background. You guys are so knowledgeable. Very impressive. For me, I am an average home mechanic/hobbyist and I hope to learn more about the CL1 from this forum and in time to come may search or ask for advice on this site.
Well, it is only one hour until I pick up the new car. I am very excited and I hope to appear in forum posts in the future.
Nice meeting you all and Happy Easter.
Chuck

I can recommend paying the subscription fee, ( from £15 a year ), to gain access to all the technical sections that can save you a shed load of money.

Still can't work out the colour. On the log book it says blue but it looks like a metallic dark purple. Really weird. I mean my CF6 Accord Wagon is also a metallic blue (more like an aqua-blue) and there is really a big difference in the two.
But the main thing is, it is home and now I will give it a really good valet. Will post up pictures when both are cleaned up.
Now let me search and find out how to subscribe to this forum. I agree, it is only fair to support the forum as a lot of time and effort is put into it which should be appreciated. And also there is a cost in the hosting.
Cheers all and thank you for the nice words.
Kind regards,
Chuck

Oh Wow! It looks like I am very lucky to own this so I must take really good care of it.
Tomorrow I will replace the engine oil, oil filter and engine coolant with best fluids as recommended in the best fluids thread.
Engine = Silkolene Pro S 5W40/Motul 8100 Xcess 5W40 5 litres
Coolant = Motul Inugel Optimal 3.5 litres
It is like giving it a drink of "Blue Label" if it was whisky.

While your at it, I'd change the gearbox oil with Amsoil too and the Silkolene is now branded as Fuchs Pro S Titan. I'd also advise valve clearances as well as cleaning out the EGR plate and valve to keep things tip top
Obviously, if it hasn't been already, definitely cavity wax/underseal the underneath to prevent any rust issues

Thank you Kaz_219. This is exactly the advice I would like. Thank you for sharing.
In fact, I was just reading the post by Paul about changing the transmission oil with that Redline MTL stuff and also the clutch fluid. It is really well written. So would you recommend Amsoil over the Redline MTL?. I have changed gearbox oil before with my CRX so that is not a problem. But changing the clutch fluid is new to me nevertheless the author of the thread has explained it is very similar to changing brake fluid, just got to make sure the clutch reservoir is kept topped up...so I will give that a shot as well.
Undersealing - The previous owner has said that he had already under sealed the car but it never hurts to check again tomorrow when I shall get a good look underneath of the car. Hopely no unexpected surprises appear.
The valve clearance...I must remember to adjust these when engine is cold but I need to search for the clearance measurements in this forum first. I gather the process is similar to adjusting the valve clearance for the SOHC Honda engines where you loosen the bolt and adjust the screw in the middle and tighten. Also, need to get the torque settings.
EGR plate....this has got me now. I know that there is an EGR valve just beneath the throttle body and there is a thread that shows that you can cap these off but the dreaded CEL will illuminate. I have found a thread on this forum and I plan to read this tonight. With regards the EGR plate, I need to locate this and I guess that it is probably around the inlet manifold somewhere. I gather that I need to take it apart if screws are available and clear the muck from the channels so that the exhaust gases can recirculate properly. Since cleaning the EGR valve and the plate will not cost me anything, I will have a crack at this later on tonight. I bet ya I'll return with a black "sooted" face.
Cheers,
Chuck
