Hey guys, been on here a few years as my gf bought this ATR off here about 3 yrs ago... after 3yrs trouble free motoring she is getting something newer so I took this off her hands. :)

I've owned many Hondas over the years and currently have 3 other Civics, the ATR will be my new daily.

She has a few minor issues to be sorted which I'm doing at the moment but should be on the road start of May. :)

Ideal daily?

You all must earn too much, the one and only reason I have sold mine is because I was going to have to start using it daily. I calculated I would need to fill the car up once a week which is what, £80 a week? So £320 a month or £3,840 a year. To me it is utter madness spending that much on fuel, unless of course your company pay your fuel for you.

Sorry, rant over, I guess I just wish I could have justified keeping mine

I agree, i now use a 1.5 Civic as a daily, the money i save in fuel on the ATR each month pays for the tax, insurance, MOT etc on the Civic, so it basically means i can now run two cars for the cost of one.

The ATR now sits in the garage looking pretty and gets used and abused at the weekends, provided it isn't raining. I'm now only adding 2 to 3k on the mileage each year on the ATR, rather than 9k or more, so hopefully it might last longer too.

My wife uses ours daily, she drives it for business too, pretty much driving around constantly going to meetings.

Yea, she'd spend much less in fuel with a diseasal, but who cares? Life's too short to drive boring cars.

I just wish I could drive it more often!

Wish I could have done this but can't justify a second car at the moment. In the process of moving to a bigger house, so I have a bigger mortgage to contend with as well as a 1 year old son. One day I will have a 2nd car :agree:

I do miss driving it, but I would miss the cash more. I would rather be able to spend more on our son, the house, eating out etc. than petrol in a car. Plus commuting in it would not be fun, I want some toys and comfort.

U wot m8? An ATR is comfortable! :dunno:/>

I don't understand this obsession with toys either. Why does anyone need toys in a car? The car IS the toy, just drive the thing, instead of faffing around handsfreeing the bluepoo dohickey.

Yeah I'm with Kozy, I only commute 25 miles a day but want those miles to be enjoyable!

I've been using a stripped out ep3 with plate diff and 5.1 FD for the last year so the Accord is a big change! Fuel should be around the same, tax is actually cheaper on the ATR, insurance about the same.

As for being rich... far from it! But my son is 18 and works, I'm not married so I spend as I please. :)

I bought mine as a daily, transferring from a TDCi Mondeo. Decent mix of comfort and excitement. MPG isn't too terrible, not wonderful I admit. I do miss the toys though, DAB and Bluetooth as standard are nice when you get used to them.
Hey presto, its a rarebit!

Mine was perfect as a daily.

But then again i think my stripped out civic is perfect as a daily too

Not in comparison to say a gen 7 Accord Executive, I know as I have test driven one. Plus my commute is mostly motorway, I am not going to enjoy putting the ATR through that, not to mention all the stone chips etc. My ATR was pretty mint, there is no way I was going to put it through a 60 mile a day commute.

To each their own and all that, I just can't justify that spend on fuel, others can, I can't. Simples.

However, in terms of a daily, in principle the ATR is probably a good one as it is fairly reliable for its age and fun to drive :agree:

Meh, you worry too much. It's an old Accord at the end of the day, not a classic Porsche. :evil4:

Maybe, doesn't matter now though as the ATR is already with a new owner and my main issue was the fuel cost, I could have probably lived with the wear and tear.

I have been using mine daily since I bought her back in 2006, ok my commute is 15 miles total plus the shops twice a week and other errands but the main reason for buying her in the first place was to enjoy the whole type R experience every time I drove her and make that commute that little bit enjoyable.

I smile every time I drive her especially in the morning as I am surrounded by bland uninspiring diseasals which i'm lucky enough don't need due to the mileage I do.

if I was in a better position I would alternate driving the ATR with a nice powerful merc or jag but for now its ATR all day every day :agree:

Thread cleaned. :agree:

All comments to do with the engine issues are now in the correct section. I've also PM'd the OP. :agree:
