I've been dying to get into a few threads for days now. Tomorrow will hopefully be a good day, get access to those threads, and get my car back. Fingers crossed.

Its worth the money, personally. ;)

The information from experienced owners is invaluable. I'm not sure what the actual cost is, but I'm willing to bet, if it was higher, it would still be worth it. 1st thing when I wake up, I'll be subscribing. 👍 Cheers for all the information/advice so far. And apologies for the text talk errors.

3 days for a timing belt kit??? Has anyone ever heard the likes of it? This garage has now had my car for more time than I've had my car!!!! Deflated and scunnered are just 2 of the words that describe my mood at this point. 😠😡😤 A large drink is in order, since I don't need to worry about driving.

Maby you should check they are not trying to fit integra parts😉

Personally, if it was me, I wouldn't subscribe, better to remain in blind ignorance..........once you've paid and you start looking around the forum you'll only notice the multifarious things that can go wrong with ATR's. You'll note the symptoms other unfortunates have experienced and you'll start ascribing them to your own pride and joy.

What will follow will be a tirade of posts in the "problems" section as you desperately try to allay your worst fears about things you didn't even know existed a fortnight ago.....seeking (and accepting) help from people you've never met (the majority of whom have probably never lifted a spanner in anger in their lives) and all the while justifying the money you spent and are spending on the car, telling yourself you could never be seen dead driving a diesel Golf and that the ATR is "special" and worth all that extra investment to keep her on the road.

Welcome to ATR ownership, welcome to the Forum :evil4: :evil4:

(Oh, and after you have got so fed up that you sell her because she is impractical and doesn't meet you lifestyle needs...........two years later your back on the forum looking for another one because you miss the ATR so much - it is an illness........but you are past the point of no return now :agree: )

Yeah I won't be going back there. She also referred to it as 'the integra'!!!! daft wee reception lassie.

Don't worry about that.

We recently overheard two young sales chaps in a local Honda dealership having a laugh at our car as they wondered why anyone would bother to put a Type R sticker on an Accord!

I will be fully inspecting their work, when I go to pick it up. And also inspecting the parts they have removed.

There are people out there, oblivious to the fact the ATR actually exists. Shockingly ignorant!!!

And yeah wullien. I am already there. I was there long before I actually owned an ATR. 😜

I'm from shettleston, was originally a south sider though. I do a fair bit of travelling all over Glasgow so there's a good chance we will come across each other at some point. 😀 I'll be sure to give you a friendly flash or beep. Your ATR looks sweet in that picture. Mine is a red pre-facelift also. I've still to get it shined up. There's a few pictures a couple of pages back in this thread. I'll be sure to get more up once it's looking its best. I think the PB ATR you mention might have been from drumchapel. I had seen that advertised. Not sure where it might be now though.

If you see a Bus flashing you. you know its me then  The black one had one steel wheel on, hadnt been washed all winter etc..
I take the car to the local Polish folk to wash it. They do a good enough job for me.

Hi all. My name is David, I'm from Glasgow. I have been a fan of the accord type R for 8 years, since I first sat in the passenger seat and got to feel the v-tec kick in. (That feeling was only bettered by a honda fireblade powered catterham). Until now I have had to build up my driving history as the insurance would have left me bankrupt. These cars are becoming rare, and even rarer to find one that hasn't been tarted up by people that mistakenly think they know better than honda. So I think it's getting close to a 'now or never' situation.

I have been watching the market (pistonheads, autotrader, gumtree, although I'm skeptical about that last one) for the past couple of weeks to get a feel for what's on offer, and how much the owners value these fantastic cars.

Ideally, I would love a relatively un-modded, pirate black, pre facelift model, with a good service history. (Not asking much eh?) I'm hoping to either stumble upon this, or be nudged in the right direction in the next 4-8 weeks, once I have the cash saved up.

I thought it best, to try and get ahead of the curve with my search and I couldn't think of a better place than here, to hopefully fulfil my dream.

Corner weighting Id consider a waste of time on anything other than a fully stripped & dedicated track car....

Want to explain why?

Sure. For me the lousy condition of our British roads added to the fact you won't ever consistently drive the car hard enough on the road to notice the difference....add passengers/different fuel loads to when it was weighted & it will throw it out too...

I would confidently bet a sensible ride height added to a full fast road geo setup & dampers correctly set for road use would be suffice to turn the OP's car back into a sweet handling ATR.

I'd maybe sum it up with start with the fundamentals & concentrate on the details later

Thanks for replying, being a lad with a track prelude and a history of good cars I was interested in your reasons. Sometimes on forums people will express an opinion because they have heard it before so it was nice for you to quantify it.

The guys who set my geometry up talked me into having my car corner weighted so prior to that I had little understanding of it. I would love to be able to drive it as it is corner weighted, then back to back not corner weighted, on the roads obviously not on the absolute limit and see if I can tell a difference. All I would say is it feels wonderfully balanced and whilst I agree with you it is more of a track thing and passengers etc throw it out I thought it had to be better to start out with a corner weighted car rather than a non conner weighted one which would be thrown out even more. It was one of those things that other than a small extra damage to my wallet and the fact the car would not sit level I thought could not hurt, and possibly make it slightly better to drive...
