Spacers will only make matters worse. The standard offset is ET55 on ATR's.
ET50 pushes the wheels 5mm further out than standard (each side)
ET45 pushes the wheels 10mm further out than standard (each side)
ET40 pushes the wheels 15mm further out than standard (each side)
The lower the (ET) number, the more likely that you'll foul the arches when lowered.
Most of the guys on here run no less than ET45 with 215 tyres. I run 225/45/17 on 7 x 17 ET50 and it is extremely close to fouling the arches because of the wider tyres and taller sidewall.
