If it was last year and it had the grey wheels at the time then it wasn't me who beat you to it. Possibly the previous owner, who it appears swapped them for the white rotas.

Spent about 3-4 hours today washing and waxing as guided by my some. 2 buckets, special pads and towels and stuff, it was a right performance. Was never like that in my day...... It does look good however.

Took it out for another blast and the handling felt much better. I don't know if that was perception, me being slightly more confident, or what. But I do feel a little better about it now.

I just used what my old grandad had in his garage. It was in a gallon tin and lasted me for years after he passed.

Anyway, just had some pictures taken in the setting sun with a DSLR, when I get them and if they're any good I'll get them up, but I was really wanting to get the paint sorted first. (bumper scuff, pink mirrors, and the touch-ups etc)

Hi,

so a few weeks ago over on Detail D's S2K injector thread I asked a question about mapping.

Today, and completely out of the blue a new member contacts me with an offer. He'd been told I was after one, and presumably somebody upped something on facebook, and I can have a good guess who that was. :agree:/> Thank you.

So Ive been offered the following..... p28 ecu and harness on chrome software, a 2 pin iacv and adapter plate and egr blanking plate...……....Vtec kicks in at 5k and revs out just past 8k with built in launch control.

So my questions are,

1. I would not be confident installing this myself, and presumably the map would need re-doing to my exhaust / intake / timing / fuel delivery etc. Is this correct?

2. What would that cost?

3. What would be a good price for the kit offered?

I'm really keen to make it more usable, but don't want to get too far into this financially.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Paul.

To run properly with your engine settings it will have to be mapped again to your engines life/power blah blah blah. However may still run as long as the security stuff has been deleted?

Far as I’m aware the s2k injectors actually lose you power I’d pass in them personally?

Rest sounds ok

Price wise I’m not sure maybe £3/400?

Sure somebody with experience could help you out here?

I believe Toyracer (Pete) runs a plug and play mapped ecu? He may be able to help further 🤔

Hi Paul,

The price seemed really reasonable so I suggested he get on to you. I'm sure it was up for £300.

Coupled with some s2k injectors it will really sort the old girl out.

A mapping session would cost you £250

Theres a few places that deal with chrome. Your best bet is to buy the bits and get them fitted and mapped at the same place.

I reckon you'd be in and running for £700

Not a small amount of change of you compare to the value of the car but really sorta the driveability out

Hi Sam, I'm going to owe you a massive drink if we ever meet up...… :-)

If I was going to do it, I'm getting conflicting information re the s2k injectors. I really fancy this idea but unfortunately, if I put #700 into this just for the sake of it, I don't think the missus would be too happy. In fact, I may not be capable of driving it for a month or so.

See reply to Craig below but its really growing on me a daily. Very easy vehicle to drive around town in higher gears than my bm was. Except for the harsh ride, I never reaslised until recently how shite the roads are around here.

Hi Craig, no thoughts whatsoever about tracking it. Its my daily after all. I was just toying with the idea really, you really have to be giving it some to hit vtec. I'm not really doing it very often as my daily commute is so small, I just thought it would be more usable to have the crossover point lowered. I bought it to have a bit of fun really.

My son is currently working towards getting the DC5 more track focused. New clutch, 2nd gear, carbon syncros, 5.1 final drive, lightened flywheel, and mugen plated diff as a complete gearbox being bought this weekend. One track car in the house will be enough!!!

Well when you do fit it you certainly will have fun no doubt about it, Your Son's car sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun too.

Right, just a quick brain dump. Thinking out loud.

I don't wanna spend £700. If I forget the injectors is that me down to about 6? I don't even what to spend that really :-) Ive read somewhere theres not much, if anything, to be gained from the S2K injectors except higher fuel usage. Or are they important for mapping?

I know the gains on NA engines are minimal, not too bothered about it TBH, just want to be able to tap into vtec easier. The car has a typhoon induction and runs a mongoose (decat) system I believe, with a VD mani, but its seems quiet to me. Can the map create me a bit more noise?

And then if I go ahead, I only know 2 tuners up North. TDI who would want at least £350 to tune only, I'm not even sure that they would fit the kit for me. And EFI, but again I'm not sure. Where would I go to get the work done?

Cheers, Paul.

Mapping will work on either OEM or the S2K injectors. :agree:

Plus they do help in the mid range on the OEM ECU, or so my butt dyno told me. :D

Craig, it already is. I don't have the vocabulary to explain how good it is in its current set up. Its a freak of a car already if you ask me. RBC inlet is the last thing that's going to show (the tiniest) increase. The gearbox will make a big difference without increasing hp, he was just about to buy a 5.3FD and a few other bits when this box became available, only 5.1 FD but great value overall.

B2yls will it not be better and possibly cheaper just to change the final drive and lightweight flywheel? Rather than a map?
