So I put my car into a garage that a friend recommended for a timing belt kit. Was told it would be ready today. Got there after work and been told it won't be ready till tomoz. Gutted is an understatement. 😢😤😡

I'm thinking about getting all the fluids changed on the car. I remember reading about royal purple oil. Would you guys recommend that? Also any recommendations for brake fluid, and coolant?

Corner weighting Id consider a waste of time on anything other than a fully stripped & dedicated track car....

Want to explain why?

Sure. For me the lousy condition of our British roads added to the fact you won't ever consistently drive the car hard enough on the road to notice the difference....add passengers/different fuel loads to when it was weighted & it will throw it out too...

I would confidently bet a sensible ride height added to a full fast road geo setup & dampers correctly set for road use would be suffice to turn the OP's car back into a sweet handling ATR.

I'd maybe sum it up with start with the fundamentals & concentrate on the details later

^^^👍👍👍 that's along the lines of my thinking. A road car needs to be suitable for roads. And all the obstacles that brings. The ATR standard setup is still a great handling car. I don't plan on throwing it round bends when I have the missus or kid in it. When I'm by myself however, that's a different story.

Detail D, would u advise Mobil oil then?

Mobil 1 oil is great stuff.
For brake fluid Motul RBF is popular- or Castrol React (used to be castrol response)

Mobil 1 is what I always used on my puma. Just wanted to be sure it's the best for the ATR. I'll look into getting either castrol or motul for the brake fluid. I've always known good fluids are essential, but this is the first car that I'm adamant, nothing but the best goes into it. Cheers.

I use Motul for everything except the gearbox and power steering which I use Honda's own.

Importantly if you change the gearbox oil remember to use good quality stuff if not Honda's...I ran my gearbox a couple of days with the wrong grade stuff in it and it was like it had been replaced with a 1kg box of Kellogs Corn Flakes...

😂😂😂 moyz. That made me laugh. I'll definitely be upgrading any fluids. And I'll always be asking experienced individuals before I commit to anything with this car. It's gonna be expensive to do things the right way, but well worth every penny in my opinion.

Do you need to be subscribed to the forum for the discount? I'm gonna subscribe tomorrow so it's kind of irrelevant.

:nono: Warning raised.

PLus personally Mobile 1 oil is too thing for the H22A7. The minimum should be 5W-40 fully synth. :agree:

There is an actual thread all about the recommended oils, etc. ;)

I can't get in to those threads yet as I'm not subscribed. That's why this thread has been so long. I don't think I can edit my posts either so the text talk is stuck there unfortunately. Does 'tomoz' count as text talk, if that was their actual wording?

If somebody told me my car would be ready 'tomoz' I would collect it from them and take it elsewhere!

Hmmm yes Peter Mobile 1 is way too thing for the H22A7 although I do believe that Cousin "IT" is more preferable although his hair tends to get caught in the sump

3 days for a timing belt kit??? Has anyone ever heard the likes of it? This garage has now had my car for more time than I've had my car!!!! Deflated and scunnered are just 2 of the words that describe my mood at this point. 😠😡😤 A large drink is in order, since I don't need to worry about driving.

I've been dying to get into a few threads for days now. Tomorrow will hopefully be a good day, get access to those threads, and get my car back. Fingers crossed.
