I do get what your saying shiny. And don't get me wrong, there are mods that I am a fan of. But it was my old workmate who used to say he wouldn't touch an atr that's been lowered because the mod is only as good as the person who done it, and that not everyone knows better than honda who spent millions to develop these cars. Any mods that have been done correctly and tastefully then I'm all for that. But I get the feeling, regardless off colour, mods and paintwork condition, when I see the one I want, it'll just hit me and there'll be no stopping me from getting it. Then I'll have the job of restoring it to its best condition.

Black = NOT BEST
Silver = FURTHEST FROM BEST BUT STILL GOOD

Just to clear things up a little...😆

That made me chuckle moyz. With things like colour, it comes down to personal opinion. There will be some who think silver is best. Not many, but some. I can't tell you why I don't like red, as I don't actually know. But if u lined the 3 cars up in those 3 colours, red would be the last one I went too.

Karma is probably gonna present a nice red atr to me, the moment I have the readies for it.

Me personally I wouldn't worry to much about service history as most car enthusiasts service there cars more regularly than folk who swear by dealer services don't know what other folk think about that

That is a fair point tomo, but there's no guarantee that the person selling is a genuine enthusiast. And if the car had upwards of 140k on the clock it would be a lot of trust to put in someone's word that its been looked after. I know a really good mechanic and when he has worked on my previous cars there has been little to no trace of it that I can prove. It has made things difficult in the past when selling.

Trouble is Honda spend millions delevoping their cars with many things in mind...

Emmissions / Environment
Noise
Comfort
Economy
Regulations
Costs

All of which are at the sacrifice of performance.

Honda should have built the ATR with OBD1 and none of this exhaust gas recircualtion nonsence.

Good man frazz. I think I might have stumbled upon a thread u were on. Had seen there's a few atr's appearing in glaagow and surrounding areas.
And thanks shekster, it took me a while but I managed to find pinklady in the members list. From reading her posts I get the feeling she aint looking to sell. But it's quite a nice example.

No text talk please as its not allowed on here. :agree:

And her circumstances have changed and she's having to reluctantly sell the car. PM her and ask. :dunno:

No way!!!! I have been trying my damnedest to not use text talk. Can't believe that one slipped through. I'm not yet in a position to make an offer on an atr but I will maybe message her and see if and when she may be looking to sell. Thanks.

Speak for yourself :p

Silver for the win :D

Hi and Welcome fella, as said, take your time in the search, It took me some years to find a good one, many have been modified now or have high miles, but look at the common faults on here and have a good gander when you find one you like,

I always go for stock cars that haven't been touched but I know others prefer modified as the work is done for them, but good luck with the search.

See I knew there would be some who prefer silver. 👍
Thanks for the advice. My itch for an atr has been going for the past couple of years. I had points on my licence for speeding, but that was over 5 years ago now, so I'm hopeful that I can get a good price on insurance now. There are a lot of differing opinions on here, and all are welcome. But in the end, as long as I can find one that doesn't cost the earth, and has the potential to be restored to its glory, then everything else is immaterial.

Over 5 years and your speeding convictions are spent, so won't affect insurance :agree:

Oh, and as the old saying goes, "once you've had black you'll never go back.." :love10:

Shiny speaketh the truth here  amen to that. If you plan on restoring it then take a look at my nut and bolt resto thread...but be warned you may need a spare few hours and several cups of tea to read it all... (Disclaimer) I cannot also be held responsible for giving you ideas that will DEFINITELY cost you money :evil4:

Hi and welcome.

I, like you was looking for a totally unmodified ATR and I especially wanted a silver facelift which I eventually found after a long search.

At some point and I`m unsure when, the whole `mod` thing got me and I have now spent a small fortune doing what are the best mods for our beloved ATR, along with a lot of other of course.

In some respects I wish I`d bought one already with mods, but the learning curve that goes with the reading/ chatting and excitement of doing it can`t be overlooked of course.

Wish you all the best in your up and coming purchase and can only second the advise given so far.
