Over 5 years and your speeding convictions are spent, so won't affect insurance :agree:/>/>/>

Oh, and as the old saying goes, "once you've had black you'll never go back.." :love10:/>/>/>

Shiny speaketh the truth here :twisted:/>/> amen to that. If you plan on restoring it then take a look at my nut and bolt resto thread...but be warned you may need a spare few hours and several cups of tea to read it all... (Disclaimer) I cannot also be held responsible for giving you ideas that will DEFINITELY cost you money :evil4:/>/>

Just booked mine in for a same colour respray Andre!

Good work Craig...full shell respray with all glass out & engine bay ? :dunno:

One just on your least favourite site in Edinburgh but it's red.
Reason for edit it has been for sale for 614 days.
Also a nice white shell off this car :love10:

If someone has been advertising for the best part of 2 years and still not sold then it must be a proper shed. I've recently came into a bit of cash so my shopping can begin as soon as the right car becomes available. But I'm not going to plunge 2k+ into a shed.

Realistically you should be able to get a decent example for between 2.5k and 3k.

That is the budget I had in mind, having looked at the market now for a couple of weeks. But there's people out there looking for those prices with no service history, and problems that will need fixed before its properly road worthy. I'll just keep plodding along in my puma for now.

For 3 grand I'd expect full service history, a years MOT and no problems at all with the car ie. engine managemeng lights or SRS lights on...good (but not perfect) body work and a bang tidy interior.

Put it this way, if I was to sell my ATR, I'd probably advertise it for 4k with the realistic view if getting 3.8k for it...the interior is like brand new, the body work is near perfect (no rust, just a couple of stone chips on the bonnet), the engine and gearbox are in A1 condition with only 70k miles, it also has a few tasty mods...Bilstien B12 suspension setup, K&N Typhoon, Mongoose exhaust and BuddyClub wheels to name a few...nothing that would warrant any hesitation from someone who knows what they're looking at.

Its all about buying cheaper and having to spend a bit on it or holding off for a good 'un at a slightly higher price.

That sounds like a beast modzy. And only 70k on the clock. Nice!!!! I have been pondering picking up a cheap one and getting to work on it. But although my finances are now in a healthy position, I had originally set myself a target of 4-8 weeks. So I might just wait until march before making my decision on which way to go. Either way I'll definitely be on here picking your brains.

I seen, what looks like a decent ATR advertised from Northern Ireland. I have asked for more information and pictures. The car has a UK registration, but does anyone know if there is any additional costs with buying a car from Northern Ireland.

The ferry ain't cheap ;)

If you are going by car, I reckon circa £300 return for your travelling car and £150 ish one way on the ATR.

So near on £500. Personally I'd make few days of it and stay up on the north coast, awesome place, the causeway road is amazing and a great place to take an ATR.

I reckon I would leave my current car at this side. Then it's only 1 car to bring back. It would need to be a weekend due to work, so I could, maybe, spend an extra day. Thanks shiny. I soooooooo want to be patient. But the bug has caught me. I'll see what the guy has to say, then mull it over for a couple of days.

One things for sure I ain't gonna be selling mine for £4k......or selling it at all for that matter I hope for a very long time  I've got some serious VTec action to catch up on. I managed to drive it about 6 times between buying it and taking it off the road

I'm beginning to change my mind on the red ATR. Although its still not my favourite, it is starting to appeal to me. And I'm hoping if I view one in person, I might fall in love. 😍😍

What made it appeal to you?

There's been quite a few being advertised. And the more I see them the more they are growing on me. The one on here for sale with tons of mods is quality. I guess it's down to how well kept they are, and also, which contrasting colours are being used on the alloys, interior, engine bay. And, as was said earlier in this thread, I'm narrowing my search to the point where it's close to impossible to find what I want. My main concern needs to be finding an ATR which has been well maintained. Low mileage is a bonus. Colour really can't be the basis of my search. There's always detail D and friends for that. 😉 Any ideas how much a full pirate black respray would cost?

First time I seen a picture of yours moyz, it was nice, but it just didn't draw my attention. Now I'm damn near salivating looking at that picture. Speaking of which, is there any good alternative to photobucket? My iOS isn't updated so I'm unable to install it on my phone.

NHB generally means its a facelift, and I much prefer the pre facelift.

Paul smith is quite a common name, but was he by any chance from Grangemouth/Falkirk area?

I really am a fan of Pirates Black pre's because my first ever taste of VTEC was in an old workmates one...think he was the second owner. This was back in 2001 so it was mint. I helped him fit the Remus back boxes in the workshop we had. I remember the first time I seen it in the sun too...absolutely lovely...that purple flip through the paint...sexy! That car hooked me on Hondas from then on. Wanted an EP3 badly for a few years untill my DC2 came up unexpectedly.
