I am in Glasgow. I have had a read of the guides on here. And I will be discussing any possible purchase with my regular mechanic. There is currently a red pre on pistonheads being advertised as of yesterday. Well, actually there are 2 red pre's. Both have been catching my eye. And both were originally valued at £2600. I'm hoping that the new price is an under valuation. Or, that with the savings, my mechanic can bring the car back to a high standard.

Yeah, that's on every site I've looked at. Doesn't seem to be selling.

Nah, good old gasoline will do nicely for me. As expected with adverts, the cars do look the part, but as you rightly say, are they? Only time will tell. But I'm determined to find out as much as possible before doing a 9 hour round trip.
On a side note, I noticed in rob's ad, he says momentum fuel as well as v-power. Is that tesco momentum? And is that a fuel you guys would advise as an alternative. I know it has quite a high octane level, but I never hear of anyone using it on an ATR.

Thats the best fuel to put in the ATR you get it from Shell. :agree:

Had to laugh there. I'm well aware of shell v-power. It was the momentum that surprised me. But thanks for the heads up. I use v-power in my puma. But once a month I use tesco momentum as I do a lot of shopping there and usually build up between 12-16p discount per litre. I assumed I'd need to abandon momentum once I got an ATR.

No. Get the benefit of your discount. You can use Momentum from time to time. In fact, the car will take any old rubbish if you're stuck and you don't make a habit of it.
Just use V-Power as the general rule.

Will do. Cheers. It's very rare I use anything with a lower octane than momentum. But when I do I usually brim the tank.

sorry she changed her mind the last moment,
i picked my one up in st-albans and drove over 500 back just over 10hours,what a trek, 7hours of boring motorways till got to the b roads, and all came back to me the reason of have to re-own another atr, it took me 7 month to pick this standard one out the bunch, few wee niggle to rectify, still for a 13year old car that's nothing compare to modern one nowadays a 13 month and long list of problems, anyway good luck on the hunt mate, ps about couple months time there might be a meet up at perth, your more than welcome to come along if you fancy it :agree:

That's not a problem shekster. Was worth a try. I don't mind making a long journey for the right ATR. And I do look forward to taking up the northern roads to test it's capabilities. Once I've made a purchase, I plan on subscribing to this forum, and any meets within a reasonable distance, I will be looking to attend. I'll be on the lookout for any updates. Cheers.

There's been quite a few being advertised. And the more I see them the more they are growing on me. The one on here for sale with tons of mods is quality. I guess it's down to how well kept they are, and also, which contrasting colours are being used on the alloys, interior, engine bay. And, as was said earlier in this thread, I'm narrowing my search to the point where it's close to impossible to find what I want. My main concern needs to be finding an ATR which has been well maintained. Low mileage is a bonus. Colour really can't be the basis of my search. There's always detail D and friends for that. 😉 Any ideas how much a full pirate black respray would cost?

I'd say a good glass out full prep respray is £3-£4k. Yes you can get less but I suspect you want it to be right. Bear in mind that in my case every single removable panel is off the car too, so spraying it all in one go could be cheaper. :agree:

Yeah if I was gonna get a respray, I'd want it done with the greatest attention to detail. Don't want to pop the bonnet and see the old colour lurking. Thanks for the info, but hopefully when I do manage to get one, whichever colour that may be, it will be perfect. And I won't want to change much.

I seen that ad and it just didn't appeal to me. The engine bay looks awful. At least they were upfront about the scratch. But my spidey senses ain't tingling with that one. That's part of the reason I realised the colour ain't a big factor. I've seen a few pb ones that have been trashed. I seem to be getting drawn towards middle-southern England.

The Perth one is at 129k and there's no mention of cam belt replacement etc. shinys guide wouldn't approve. 😡
